Some history for ya

In case you were wondering,
first trolleys running in
the 5 boroughs appeared in
People\'s Republic of Brooklyn, 1892
Almost immediately, Brooklynites
trying to avoid being smashed
by new electrically-operated
streetcars were dubbed
\"Trolley Dodgers\"
thus providing the name
for a local baseball team
Eventually, of course, it was
shortened to Dodgers
Then they moved to L.A.
(blah, blah, blah)
Manhattan\'s first trolley line began
running from 65th Street to
Harlem on October 23, 1899
Until streetcar companies
went out of business, a billion
passengers a year were carried
over 500 miles of track
The last trolley car was owned
by Queensborough Bridge Line
and stopped running in 1957...
the same year the Dodgers
left for the Left Coast
Hmm, sounds like another
Oliver Stone movie in the making
