i don't buy it for a new york minute
that anyone truly believes
their home composting kit +
cfl bulbs will do anything except
assuage guilt + increase eco-profits
for eco-capitalists
we all like the sound of our voices
while declaring desire for revolution
our ears grow deaf however
when confronted with
terms and conditions
the truth about GOOD FOR YOU

Buy fresh at farmers. markets
Buy local and organic
Sure, that.s the target
But
The wekly array
Ot farm-grown, pesticide-free
Is 10 miles away
And Power Dollar.s on my block
And the cost of stawberries
Is 5-fold higher there
Than here
So it is for parsley
For melon,and cotton socks
And hummus and dried peas
I have to do with the idea
That Farmers. Markets are for yuppies
Organics are for snobs
And Dollar-Only stores
Are for folks like me
so..

better than the alternative, maybe?

and people wear green
like girl scout badges
and facebook flair
declaring but doing nothing
action is action
and does not exist in words
it\'s overwhelming
suffocating
to contemplate
all that we have done
and all that needs to be done
and all that we\'ll never do
so i take one step at a time
do one little thing
or a few things
that i know are within my reach.....
and avoid bragging about it
cuz bragging only slows us down
who the fuck cares
if you buy
local
fresh
efficient
pesticide free
in season
bpa free
within reason
action happens after action potential
and bragging and boasting
only slows us down
