– handrails, electronic ellipses & empty horizons-

you’re staring at
a three day
view thinking
love lost dreaming
what could have been
while i, feeling the
reading of grasps
glued by tied hearts
entwined with nowhere
to go but tapping
on doors that
won’t open

or stolen clocks
on horizon’s met
without a glimpse
of you

and so i blend with crowds,
walking faster than
electronic belts
in ellipses
carrying dead
passengers
holding handrails
i can’t reach

coming
back to feel nails
pound into feet
and hands
on a cross
made of stakes

i didn’t construct

nowhere going
fast accused
despite the
what is that is
is what it is
is what
it is

and
blame
devours flesh

i am
cannibalized
raw

cheeks wet
with the why
of a vacant calendar
pointing fingers

and so
maybe i’ll just
give up on time travel
and crawl back into
the six foot depth of
steel skin
because

walls can hold me
walls can hold me

every night
