in the cosmos

in vast distances
i hear blueblack stars singing for you.
see novas of blazing creamy light streaking
across damp silky night skies
wherein i know you are swimming.
you have rubies and sapphires
studding your hands in outreached plunging
feeling outwardly for your hidden mermaid net
of girl constellation without my name.
you see,
i write for a quiet mystical dragon
who has roots in trees as old as bible passages.
a poet who writes words foggier than october’s sudden freezes
on fields of heather still breathing warmth.
you, you are in the cosmic gathering of circles
of crystal gazing balls
in which i fear you will conjure someone more beautiful
than i.
you’ll stand on planets white hot
rearranging the stars into knights in shining armor
looking down onto the greenblueswirled globe
and see your words floating across the milky way
screaming for love, o love
which will fit next to your blinking satellite
of her,
what you’ve arranged,
the mermaid star form at the top of trellis sloping
and there she’ll be.
