Balling up chubby fists
Face distorting in tempered passion
Milk-chocolate covered marshmallow dream

Cupid fights desire
With an infantile scream
Cherry cordials dripping on soft, pink skin

And standing alone
Gold leafed weapon in hand
Aims an arrow repeatedly at the same punctured heart

This year I decided
This is Cupid’s last stand
Time to silence all the jabbering candy messages
