this silence is different
from any other i have
ever known
i sit in quiet moments
not peaceful
but no longer
thriving on anger
seething beneath
my false calm
now, more than anything,
i learn myself
what i want
and what i do not want
confronted at all ends
by the realization
that somehow
i am
enough.

the trick now
as my life moves
through this quiet
is to accept that realization
and believe it.
