Redfaced fears

We sat, you and I
in front of that warm fire,
our entwined flesh
sweatglued together, smoking out
love, crouched in hiding.
I watched you go
deep into your forests,
your heart streaming
with paradoxical hoses, stoking
fires under frozen compassion.
The long winter nap
is over. Eyes of steel
melt into healing lotions,
that tenderly massage old
redfaced fears, into peace.
