10 Years of Marriage

Where did the fire go that blazed between us?
Big as a bonfire barraging clear star filled nights
Do you remember or did you forget?

Mundane Monday dinner, picking at your peas
Looks of lust and love once graced upon me
Lost in the doldrums of familiarity

All grown up we practice politeness and practicality
Sontaniety of midnight runs for Mint Chocolate Chip
Replaced by anxieties of missed mortgage payments
And little Billy’s braces
