glass house

glass house
spun out of dreams
too fragile to last
beyond the fateful day
reality reared
her ugly head
heaved the ground up
like an earthquake
her black ugly tendrils
roaring around her
like a tornado
and she
destroyed the house
the delicate footings
the gossamer walls
the spun glass beams

such a beautiful house
reflecting bright
sunbursts of love
shadows glowed into
rainbows of light
but it was
just an illusion
a lovely illusion

who could have known
it wasn’t built
to last
