Medicine

I drove to the hospital
I took the elevator to the thirteenth floor
I choked on the air there
Someone check me in

No, I won’t go home. I’m still sick.
Check my heart rate and my brain waves.
Somethings wrong you’ve got to find it
No, I won’t go, I feel safe here

Checked out with my head down
my feet were thirteen inches from the ground
I laughed at myself last
Someone take me home

And then I stepped outside
and felt alive it was the medicine they
gave me through my veins
I felt no pain
I felt the same
as I came into this life
acid rain, and candy canes
entertain
I can’t explain
