Sunburned racoon bones, red or brown
Freezing where there should be snow on the river bank
Once fat bandits disguised as twigs under my feet
Soon to be Mississippi swimmers in a gray gunk winter fog
I tasted them, I swallowed possibility – there’s a frog in my throat
I’m choking on ice river bones
