the roar
as the tires
move with swan grace
over the black and
white lines of
the open road
sliding with ease
to push me further
down this path
i choose willingly
less malignant
more painful
the radio vaporing out
american pie
as my heart sinks
to touch my belly
that will soon
start to swell
with grief and lost birth
