unrequited

Is it that pining scent
that rouses falling acorn madness?
a sap that deathly sticks
against the yearning skin
of carnal hunger
chattering amplification
to the raw and red meat core
of squirrely lust?

a territorial tap upon the branch
driving out the sanity of borders
blurring lines to cross
over a reckless stumble into passion
held by the specteral hand
of a love unlost in that
it never pressured
in equal grip upon the wild organ
that flirts with heat
and races to a shadowland
where retrospective reflections
paint the gullible sky in hues
of transitory blues
with sun as spot
of fading recognition,
romanticizing stars
