Parent message is 323130
chasing the butterfly
from my belly,
i’ll watch you jar her
keep her by your bedside,
white sheeted,
wrinkled beyond definition.

we’ve played this before,
this hard headed indesiscion,
this
“i’m too scared
to say what’s on my mind”

snow’s falling from you,
the skin’s turned blue.
suffocating all hope
on my front.

because i’m not gonna walk out
in my summer’s clothes
and waste my army
on a far, unreachable hope.

pull back the ranks,
retreat to where it’s warm.
i’ll wait for summer
to open
you up.
