burning too fast

it was you
your shadow
your pulse, your
pure essence of light
running through
my hidden veins
mirrored by my
never-done-with desert
by my silence
by the sky
in your name

it was you who
would fill me

it was you

you would spill here

and i would
seep through
the story of our
own burning stars

i would implode
explode

well out
from the world of
porous words, pop
out of corroded
daylight hours

love-eaten
light eaten
i burst

erupted too fast
showering flashes
falling dying light
into your
life

burnt out flurries
that marked
the firmament
of facts

again and again
i am hit
by these
flashes

echoes
from another
sky

i am hit as
i watch the
fallen stars
struggle
to crawl back
to me

to keep their promise
by breaking it
