There’s something in the freezing flowing pond
That reminds me of you
There’s something about your face that comes out
When the moon rises
Which it never does,
Suspended, floating as it is
And spinning

There’s something up against the bleeding burning stones
That shelters you from the wind
That hides you when it storms
And when it blows
And when it blows
There’s something to the things you say
If you only could know for what
There’s something to the points you make
If only you could be so shallow,
Even
Isn’t everybody here for you
Though
For you to show the way
For you to stroke the gentle hairs
Of everybody’s blind ego
There’s something here for everyone
If they only had a clue
Articulate digressions
Off the beaten track
Our snow on rotting streets
Our food for the facts

There’s something in the way you hold it up
To the light
When you turn it just a little bit
To the right
When you twist it
It comes off
When you bring your sneakers
To the prom
And everybody laughs
Because you’ve tied them wrong
There’s something in the way you go
There’s something that you’ll never know
Like everyone
Just try, you see, to lean a bit
Into it
To pull instead of push
To see your face glimmered back
Against the haze blue of the sky
And everything that’s there
Beyond your eyes
Before you dive
Just try, you see, to fear a bit
To sit
There’s something in the way you move
That makes me think you’re tired
So just try, you see, do you hear it?
It’s there I promise
It’s why we’re here
For everyone
For you
