I think of Venice,
dreams of Carnival

golden exquisiteness
and colors flaring,
incognito men and women
painted tears and porcelain smiles
and ribbons wound between
rustling satins

the magic of a night,
street lights and gay shadows
on the cobblestones

revelry
well into the morning’s
early hours
