i’ll come in five or less so
set ’em up joe i got a story
i gotta tell ya just so you know, drinkin’ in separated
shook mixed stirred whirs, some semblance of miracle
cures, never hurried, never hurried. do not worry about
a random bump – astroids have been hurled through
universal ones and zeros more times than heros have
been able to hold their heads above crash and wave.
i save diary stories then throw them away, the sea
is bigger than me. i can only try to swim my way free
from undetertow. the mystery is the flow. the mystery
is below, enveloped in coral reefs, not too sharp but
way too deep to keep the bed tidy, reverant, footprints
on sand, tanned bodies, solid stances, dances with
solo instruments, blown through flutes, bowed violas,
dignity in symphonic performance.
this is about endurance and ash,
cigarettes trashed by stars, gardened
far off red clay, the way mars makes
its way into orbit, the way the adoration
of random ladies stays when
one becomes
home.

i’ll come in five or less.
no need for metronome.
timing is a gift. you lift me
into infinity. no need
for meters. recorded
by an afforded worth.
you are my birth.
