candles

white candles
blue cigarette
swallow the flame
no one heard
the words
no one heard
the shattering
of windows
piled up
and pulled
into the gaping mouth
no one heard the verse
black candles burnt
cigarette flames
through the darkness
weaves and worms
like headlights
through a childhood room
like headlights
through the head
whirling and nothing
not a thing was heard
not the sound of thought
disintegrating and peeling
the walls back nothing
left alone at the side
of the road one wonders
gazes at the galaxy
through famished eyes
one observes the myth
the split of it
backwards and forwards
washed and cleansed
in the sound baptism
the shattering smashed
white on white
black on black
a cigarette flame
now like a torch
wading through this
