love songs

we lay on the bridge of the noon day sun
watching two streams flow into one.
you covered your face with your birkenstock
to shield your eyes.

i sat up and found my stomach
covered in dirt
my feet
melted in dirt
my hands
dirt.

and you were dirty too.

i laughed
and you smiled.

you drove me back to your house.
turning the car around
so i could see
an open field of silver grass.

you sat still
as i hit you with an empty water bottle
to the radiobeat.

then you found another bottle
gulped it all down
and we became a human drumset.

there are too many love songs
not enough love, we think.
