many years ago i had rented a room
in the house of that very old woman
whose teeth i kept finding in strange places
such as the fridge
or the fuse box
… just like her wig
usually draped in the fruitbowl
there was no heating in the house
no warm water
and of course no
TELEPHONE
which i liked cuz
i don’t like telephones
( i had one later on. i had it plugged out most of the time)
telephones break privacy
crack atmosphere and dreams
they are… shameless
invaders
so i went round the corner to the booth
whenever i had to make a phone call
what i liked most about it
was the fact that i would always have an excuse
to end the conversation
saying that i’d run out of change
– i have a telephone now.
sometimes i don’t answer it.
very often i don’t
right now there’s a pillow on top of it
