Turning inward like a seashell pink
and smooth, soft sand sparkles
on the surface, minute mirror
myriad reflections of the world external;
bright light glass shards shooting
beauty as a defense mechanism,
warding off enemies probing slender snouts
and sticky tentacle tongues toward
the candy center concealing the fragile
fetus suspended in shimmering amniotic fluid.
