these hours pour
in thick clouds dripped slowly
in the distance of stares
hidden out of our reach and kept
at arm’s length these hours
shatter into seconds on splints
clutching wilted roses
on faded thorns these seconds fall
into minutes counted too slowly
when losing count solders them
together melted into hours
poured so slowly
the minutes all have names
and the seconds stop passing
because it’s already been too long
since i said
i love you
