harps and a thimble

i heard a screen door
shudder in the wind
to a kind b flat
as cassie danced to old blues songs
on a scratchy phonograph

she held her eyes closed
and thought long of gramma
rotting in the box
and the needle came off the vinyl
and the lightning fun touched down

intertangled memories
thoughts
dreams caught up in fantasy

everything was broken
lying in the sand
the cat found the old dance floor
and meowed
in key
