like patsy cline out walkin’ after midnight
to spill they will the trees with strange meanings
they will spill lack of sleep a cigarette
sticking out of my face like my tongue once did
3 yrs. old in front of the camera looking
into the lens soaking up advice mopping
the floors of the mind ’til raw and feeling
chosen once more with an ever-brighter destination
descending from memory and back flat on ground zero
i pick up my feet resume the inner-power walking
after midnight nice air clinging to my lungs
smoking up in the breath laboratory
