entertainment tonight?

I don’t know whose
pleasure centers buzz with interest
to see what vapid celebrity
has married so and so
or what
designer has laid claim to fame
by hugging a star-studded rump

and Brittney, so superficially
naughty and bubbly
effusive about her beef-brained songs
whose videos flaunt a shameless perversion
to be as bad as Jacko
yet without the equal pomp

entertainment, my ass!
when I sit and stare at stupidity
such as this, I wonder
if there lies any hope
for humanity’s progression
when such brainwashing is
but a channel away
to tell you what should be considered
a pleasurable means to killing an evening

am I a part of this specie,
a bovine buffoonery beyond obscene?
I’m beginning to have my doubts
as to whether or not I want to be

if this is entertainment,
then happiness truly is
a thing most torturous
