Truth in Poetics

the only truth
for me and thee
is poetic truth

there’s no poetic
justice and there
sure as hell ain’t no
social justice

but there is
truth in poetry

there’s no truth in
lending
except in
lending a hand

there’s no truth
in politics
because political
truth is a lie

but there is truth
in poetry
larger than the truths
of science

because wisdom
is different
from knowledge

and poetry
is the expression
of experience
and the wisdom
of life, love
and music

there is no truth
but poetic truth.
