One of a thousand peers representing-
So speak for me in screaming tongues
as you’ve done for generations-
Rebel and yell
to the world all of the tragedy and bleakness
you beleive life to be
with your quietness and blackness-
You put on display
for the whole world to see
the turmoil that burns in your guts-
Your silence is the loudest sound-
Just another heartbeat
flitting across my mind
and deafening me-
When I look at you
I see you scathed and writhing,
believing in nothing but nothing-
and I want to soothe thoughts-
To tell you that looks may deceive-
and that you could believe in me
or someone else-
But if I tried to touch your beautiful hand
would you only glare
and there turn me to dust-
withering under your scowl?
