The Big Easy

Angry bouncing babies teeth
on our fast fading
New Orleans dream

“Shrimp gumbo shrimp salad shrimp ice-
cream of shrimp pate’ shrimp pop sickles”
The seafood smorgasbord nightmare
jolts the shoeshine shamster
Awake on Vieux Carre and Bourbon Street

Positively electrified entrails
entering the ancient Madam’s
voodoo symposium
Cajun lady stares at my aura
smiles her toothless grin
tiny black pushpin dolls
eight ninety five on e-bay
for the bulging eyed e-surfer
and astral traveler alike

Imagining Dennis Hopper and Peter Fonda
acid rambling mausoleum Madonna
semen sidesteps the stumbling drunks
eyeing their motorcycle death
interstate ten
fleeing from memory
of sleeping bag bashed skull in
Aliens and agents
hippies and hicks
Cocaine purchased red light district tricks
“Is that mari-ja-wanna?”
(it’s safer than crack)
And that’s five easy pieces for you,
Jack
