(Love) I’ll Be Around

When the pavement is cold
beneath your feet
When every road is
a dead-end street
And every hard face
wears a frown
I’ll be around

When the hard-hearted
are all two-fisted
When life’s a house party
and you’ve been blacklisted
And you’re looking for beer
in a dry town
I’ll be around

When it starts to rain
and your ceiling leaks
When you’ve broken every string
but your guitar still weeps
In the pawnshop
on the other side of town
I’ll be around

When everyone is so casual
with everyone else’s heart
When every poison word
seems to find it’s mark
Think of love as
the soul’s lost and found
And I’ll be around

When I said I’d make
honey of your grief
When I said I’d make an
honest man of a thief
And every man who’s lost
will soon be found
I’ll be around

I’m around every corner
In every beggar’s cup
In every hungry child
Who doesn’t get enough
I’m in every sutra
And every word of the Bible
And I’m here to show you
Life is more than survival
