The Half-Sleeping Dawn

Soft carpeted gray and rose sky
and abandoned dew-beaded phone booths
strong lingering stars that hang on long after
the road-weary moon has retired
Can you see the glistening sparkle of the grass
feel the crisp celery snap of the air?
Watch the tiredly blinking lamplights
and the broadly swaying trees.
Daylight is rising
and world stretches
out its arms.
