White noise and a cup of coffee

White noise and a cup of coffee

blinded by another morning static
with the same record spinning
coffee clouded in cream
synergy of minds and the voyage of
broken synapses
lost…left stranded
on a new informational highway
told by the seers…at 99 cents a minute
the Aztecs laugh from the taunting crowd
“…in the face!”
of change we turn and hide in closets
along with molding skeletons and an old pair of work boots
worn down to the soul
grinding the bones of long ago
now left to gather dust and decay
with only a broken watch
and a smile fading into the setting sun
the wearer
holding hope too close to a slowing pulse
fate…giving birth to a new morning
a different shade of winter grey
as the static grows
deafening
more is more than a man can take
