John Barth give a talk once at Macon State college.
at the time I had no idea who he was or if I would even understand anything he would say.
siting on the stage there were three poeple…two with him I guess for suport or what not, anyways one of the three was this old skinny man, he had a blank look on his face kinda like old people do sometimes and I thought to myself surely thats not him. However after the introduction the old guy slowly wondered up to the mic. Once there he beamed I mean when he started talking the words were like paint in the air not only could I hear what he was saying
I could feel it, very powerful speaker had me in tears at one time and laughing the next. The range of the lecture was intense and he did great job with it. I remember thinking at the end of it “fuck all that came from that skinny old man with the blank stair.” (trippin)
