i spent a couple of weeks before the battle creek trip just editing a little (changed maybe two words and changed a few line breaks), and then, a couple of weeks after the battle creek trip, i printed it all off and put it together in one frenzied night so i could take it out of town with me and read from it. it was a “create-as-you-go” sort of thing; i really had no idea what it would look like until i finished it. the cover is a scanned print of the curtains in my bedroom, and the fasteners were an “i guess so” decision. it’s ok, i guess. i really like a few pieces in it, but it inspired me to try harder and to be a little pickier about how i write.

i really didn’t want to make a huge deal of it, because i really have no idea of what i’m trying to do with my writing. i wonder sometimes how i could improve and realize that i have no clue of where to start.

oh, yeah… i couldn’t put a price on it. couldn’t bear to ask for money for it. so, instead, i’ve traded it for art. i’ve gotten some really nice things, like chapbooks from a few people, some great pictures from others, and i’m still waiting for a few others. the trade deal is a good thing and makes me glad i went through the bit of trouble.
