murmers & whispers under cloudcover

nowhere to go today, it’s raining,
let’s stay here in murmers & whispers
under cloudcover, under covers,
plucking the strings of a faraway lullaby.
mauve & bluish song tones & hues,
the orange tip of a candle bounces
in the jeweled corner of yer eye.
inch you closer by degrees,
call yer name in profound voices
offered dreamsweetened & hot,
feel yer heartthrob in a gripped fist,
catch the feather as it falls, make it mine
