deep in the reeds standing outside babylon

sometimes i have to sit back and take it all in.
i think we all do
because if we dont,
if we walk through life
a perfect mute,
in the end all the things we thought we’d bottle up,
explode like a napalm canister.
and i dont feel like exploding into flames today.

sometimes you have to look at it as it is.
and you and i both know, whether we leave tonight or not,
tomorrow it’s all gonna be the same.
and we smile and toss a coin at the villiage idiot,
thinking that’s what he wants.
that’s not what he wants.

i cant tell
and maybe you cant listen
but i think i have an answer.
because somewhere near
deep int he reeds that stand outside babylon,
there’s a gentle woman who works.
her back is a chiropractic nightmare,
her eyes are a heaven amongst streets of thieves.
and there is an answer in her smile
and her gold teeth.
