a day in september

what is the significance
of a year

why does anniversary mean more
than weekiversary
month-and-a-dayiversary

a term used to express the time it takes this dirtball to travel around that hydrogenball

why should i
feel different
than every day
for the past year

never been good
at what the shrinks call closure
even if i am writing this now

(how many bad poems are being written today)

but i’m not closing
i’m harboring
i’m not forgiving
and i can’t forget
