A Blind I

In the lobby it was watching
It was waiting for the hug, the kiss, the wink
It found them all, as expected
A blind I sought out the light of the bright.
The happy and cheerful band,
But could not sustain, allowed it to sink
In its cold, pale stare.
A blind I sought out the warmth of the smiles
Pushed away in its self-serving style
Of look at me and I and me too.
For its view is negative imagery
The lack, the slight, the missing
Missing the way of family,
Home and art and kissing.
Were but a blind I to be freed
Could it see the difference?
….. or is it just too late?
