I desire you as I do rain… (more of a letter than poem)

I sought comfort in your attention, wrongly perhaps, the crushing ego blow of your words against mine finally resulted in a desire previously unmatched. Longing never to be forced only hinted at with abstract truths and jealousy bites, pictures of perfections passed from your lips to mine and back again, fishing line hope threads our souls though much more fragile the anchor than the thread its self. Ravenous chunks given to sate each other, I wished to give you all for you felt the jaws as painfully as I, my world for yours, never ceasing in our explorations for even though familiar, we might be each their own, together it became something we ‘d never seen. We left footprints on the moon where no others can fade them with their wind. I exist in circles now, nothing more than returning to places you once inhabited, offerings flaunted by those who’d possessed a part of you, all jealously guarding your meaning as if to share would lessen marks scratched on walls proving you had existed here. Your scar remains all I have left and I wear it proudly as I slip away to where you won’t love me anymore. I banish your thought for my expansion is no longer owed to you, I warrant no more affection than this. What your eyes caught in me is now replaced. Something too close and nothing even yours has divided you as equally as land and water leaving nothing else to exist between. Differences as sharp as day to night, I exist only as twilight creatures, nothing more, nothing tangible, sparking only at the moment where that red sun meets it’s match. Enough only to draw attention for that few moments of beauty so strong… before becoming into obscurity again, sliding from your focus. I only dare hope that once, if even in a dream, you might find my inspiration again.
