Watching
On a late uptown b train
Her on the seat in front of him
Turned around
Chin resting
on loosely folded
Freckled arms wearing
A blue 99 cent thrift store t-shirt
That must have covered
The white soft shoulders
Carl Sandburg must have meant
Watching
Hair
Seeming thrown
by a wind all her own
and the unruly black strands
tucked behind her left ear
that was catching
as I was
Watching
Him speak words
Watching
Her laugh
Watching
like a homeless man palming
Some
Beautiful
useless
Foreign coin
