Lonely days
When no one sees more
Than themselves.

I have a girlfriend
I love,
I have a job
That scares me.

I have a girlfriend
That scares me,
I have a job
I love.

I’m stuck inside my head
I tried to sleep
Outside last night,
It rained,
But maybe thats the way
Of the rain.

It had to rain
Because trying to be Thoreau
Won’t solve my problems,
Won’t quiet my Jewish guilt,
I’m reading Walden
By the way,
I’m stuck
On Economy.

I wish
I was independent already,
So people would stop
Telling me
What I can
And can’t
Do.

But I’m just a writer
Who knows it’s all rhetoric
In the end,
I was supposed to realize
It later,
But it’s okay
Because writers built this world,
They’re indespensable
It’s in our blood,
And I’m a chosen one,
Like my Jewish heritage says
(Although I’m conflicted with
What my Jewish heritage says).

All these writers
And it’s so hard,
Because the Bible’s already
Been written.
Wow, to have written
The Bible,
It kinda scares me
But I love it.
