“rapturous content”–sounds like a terminal disease that afflicts the middle-class drones of suburbia. something about it makes me feel ill-at-ease & leads me to believe that the narrator of this poem is NOT really filled with “quiet joy”…seems like he/she is in denial. this creates a subtle tension within the piece that i find intriguing.
