The Doomed Eponym Fears

Lost in the swell of your heart
is my heart-
a vessel weak and helpless
on tides which dwarf its small proportions;
and your love is a beast
that I fear may consume me
if ever it tires
of my tiny taste-
Its voracious gasp inhaling me;
as vapid as vapors
which float on your breeze;
Will my flesh still sustain
Will my face still remain
as sweet as your graces
uphold in me-
Every virtue or honor I could never be-
But an eponym:
Goddess you’ve proclaimed
me to be?
When your heart loses faith,
When the winds leave your sail-
Propitious only in your eyes
I’m then doomed to fail-
If your hands should ever
drop my weight
