The Fishing Derby

You have 24 hours to prepare
with my Lear jet and the love I held back
idle in the yard, preserved

the children are gathering in dreams
with a fishing pole for you and your friend
your favorite aunt guarantees your oxygen

there is dancing on fresh mowed grass
not a glass to be seen in the sun, or shade
the wet jelly gasping fish is enough

if only you braved regression
to the threat of happiness, its cruelty
remember? your first and only hope.
