its all just tough talk. Bullshit, and bullying bluster are cheap, planes, bombs, missles, tanks, and soldier’s lives ain’t. The west is bombarding them with threats and rattling sabers. Everyone, especially the Iraqis, know it would be a senseless undertaking for anyone to take on the super hi-tech forces of the Western Allied Powers. The whole idea of this war talk is to bully the Iraqis to get off their asses and throw Saddam in a ditch, and bring forth a new government. One that is more in line with twentyfirst century thinking and progress. There is no need in the world for mideveil tinpot warlord dictators such as Hussein. If the powers that be were really planning a full scale conflict with those assholes they wouldn’t be talking big and tough twentyfourseven, they’d be keeping their cards close to the vest, not to let the other guys know whats coming.
There was an old saying back in the sixties that went,”When the leaders talk of peace, the common folk know that war is coming.” Same thing in reverse, I believe. There is no goddamn way in hell that anyone in Iraq wants a repeat performance of American airpower over Bagdad. Saddam will either step down, or he will be thrown down from within his own system. His so called army got their ass kicked so bad in ’91 that if they even dream the American and British airforces are coming to Bagdad, that there wont be one white bed sheet left in town that hasn’t been made into a surrender flag. I’ll even go way out on a limb here and bet that Bush wins this one without even firing a shot. I firmly believe that this is a pshycological offensive, a trash talk campaign against the current Iraqi leadership. Bush has all the high cards, a state of the art military offense is just one of them. However, should the Iraqi chiefs think hes bluffing and call Dubya’s hand, you can bet there will be a hot night or two in old Bagdad. No one will announce it, or anything, it will be one of those wham bam thankyou saddam surgical airstrikes against the Iraqi high command and comunication systems.
