I’m surprised that I had such a hard time with this question. If any of our current crop of famous writers have said any breakthrough words, I must have missed them. I think they’re still too busy being postmodern and clever.

I guess I have to go back to 1968 when Allen Ginsberg was interviewed during the riots outside the democratic convention in Chicago. Anytime a TV reporter would ask him a question about why they were protesting he would just ring his little finger cymbals and sing “Ommmmm”. I still get a kick out of that. I don’t know if this really counts as an answer to the question, but it’s something I agree with.
