i did a brief study on news corporations back when i was a journalism student, and it fascinated me… i guess because i’d spent semester after semester talking about the idealism of journalism (objectivity, truth) only to find out that if i was to work in journalism, i would probably be employed by a huge, multinational conglomerate. media ownership absolutely affects the way news is packaged these days, and i think that’s pretty sad. i’m not a conspiracy theorist, but i’m practical, and i know that the way your job is done is often very much affected by who’s signing your paychecks.
