that Saddam ever intended to continue into Saudi? i think it is far more plausible that he would have stayed happy with Kuwait. there was an understandable historical and geographic reason for rationalizing annexation of Kuwait, but not Saudi, and it would have been a heck of a lot harder for him to take Saudi than Kuwait.
