Napoleon soon lost any early democratic ideal that he may have had. He was a brilliant organizer and to be sure his bureaucratic Empire was much preferred over the waste of monarchy or the terror of the Revolution but as far as his occupations and conquests spreading ‘democratic ideals’, I can’t see any evidence of that in history.

The only thing an occupying force can bring to a country is oppression, culture and sperm.
