after coming home and I failed everything i tried to accomplish, going down from a flight instructor in tactical airlift, vietnam, to living in the woods outside Santa Cruz, wearing dirty rags, combing through the garbage bins in back of Albertson’s, walking through the woods to the mental health center to speak with a young woman about if I wanted to be inside of society or outside.

But we have resolve. A lot of it. One of my friends is being listed in some of the flack about John Kerry and his graphic testimony in 1971 before the senate about the Winter Soldier investigation.

he wrote:”Jim,

It’s interesting that with 19 years in the senate and over 7000 votes
that the republicans need to go back 33 years and try to smear Kerry
with guilt by association.

I am a Marine and although no one would enjoy all of this crap, It does
not intimidate me. Actually this is like 72 all over again.

The more they attack me the stronger will be my resolve.

It was nice to get your e-mail of support in this sea of attacks I have
been getting including threats to do bodily harm to me, and we still
have 7 months till the election. Fasten your seat belts.”

(Thanks, scott camil)

We must resolve to be awake and aware. My own testimony about the mass defoiliations in Vietnam has been registered in the nordic news network’s vietnam environmental conference.

We do live in a callous and brutal country, the United States, made all the more so because it is sanitized and not made real.
I am so glad about how you all are expressing your deep caring.

I came back, by the way. We have a survivors’ mission.
